I’m excited to share a couple pictures I took at Maybelle Imasa-Stukuls‘ advanced calligraphy workshop this past Sunday! I have been following Maybelle’s calligraphy work for awhile now and was eager to take a workshop with her in LA. I loved that the workshop was held at Poketo too because it is seriously the cutest. store. ever. If I ever have a craving for a yummy earl grey pie from The Pie Hole nearby, I’ll stop by Poketo afterwards to browse around…and buy a thing or two. I just can’t help myself! haha.
The afternoon was spent learning about Maybelle’s approach to doing calligraphy as a hobby/business, and giving us advice on what has worked for her. We were also given time to mix our own ink colors and we each received so many cute little calligraphy goodies to take home. I loved meeting everyone there and am in awe of everyone’s style of calligraphy. Everyone’s technique is so different and there lies the beauty and charm of modern calligraphy!
Maybelle is as nice, transparent and generous in person as she is online and that’s so refreshing. I’m inspired by her “imperfectly perfect” style of calligraphy and look forward to applying more calligraphy work into my stationery designs!
